Our Legal Responsibility

In Great Care™ and its staff comply with all state and federal laws regarding mandatory reporting. As a housing and support services organization, we are legally required to report any suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or imminent risk of harm involving a minor or vulnerable adult.

What Must Be Reported

We are required to report concerns including, but not limited to:

  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse or exploitation
  • Neglect or abandonment
  • Human trafficking concerns
  • Threats of harm or unsafe living conditions
  • Any situation that places a minor or vulnerable adult at immediate risk

How Reports Are Made

When a concern is identified, staff must report it to the appropriate child welfare agency, adult protective services, or law enforcement authority as required by law. Reports are made promptly and in accordance with state guidelines.

Confidentiality

While we respect the privacy of all individuals, mandatory reporting laws require us to share certain information with authorized agencies when safety concerns arise. Reports are handled confidentially and only shared with those legally permitted to receive them.

Limitations of Confidentiality

Information shared with In Great Care™ staff is not guaranteed to remain confidential if it involves potential harm, abuse, or neglect. Staff must disclose relevant details to the proper authorities to ensure the safety and well‑being of the individuals involved.
